Yoshikazu Ikeda
Mr. Yoshikazu Ikeda is an exceptionally skilled artisan with high recognition worldwide, and he is one of the few active artisans capable of forging Fujimon Wavy Suminagashi. Mr. Ikeda started his journey in the world of knife making in 1967 under the guidance of his father, embarking on his own path of apprenticeship. In 1983, he ventured out independently and established Ikeda Forging Works. From then onwards, Mr. Ikeda, as a successor to Sakai Utensils, has been dedicated to crafting knives. By 1988, he had already acquired the national recognition as a Traditional Craftsman. Mr. Ikeda's works primarily focus on professional kitchen knives such as Mizu-Honyaki and Suminagashi , with a predominant presence of traditional Japanese-style knife shapes. Today, as the president of the Sakai Utensils Traditional Craftsmen's Association, Mr. Ikeda continues to exert his efforts in the industry, forging one remarkable piece after another. At the physical store of Ginka Hamono, aside from having a limited stock of Mr. Yoshikazu Ikeda 's works, we also accept orders for custom-made pieces. You can select the blade type, length, and finish to match your specific requirements. We have a dedicated negotiation room for consultations, so we kindly request that you make an appointment in advance. We will prepare a comfortable setting for your order discussions. If you find scheduling an appointment inconvenient, you are also welcome to visit the store directly. However, if the store is crowded, you may need to wait, and we appreciate your understanding. If you wish to experience top-tier craftsmanship in Sakai City, Ginka Hamono highly recommends: Ordering works by Mr. Yoshikazu Ikeda.
