Echizen Uchihamono adheres to ancient Japanese smelting and handcrafted fine processing techniques. With a history of approximately 700 years, Echizen became the first cutlery production area in Japan to receive the designation of a traditional national craft in the year 1979 (Shōwa 54). They employ unique methods to create sharp tools, such as well-known Japanese kitchen knives, gardening shears, and sickles. In recent years, they have been dedicated to establishing new brands and developing exceptionally designed original products. Today, Echizen Uchihamono boasts 18 traditional artisans actively crafting various exquisite and outstanding products for the world.
